Our Naturopath Blaise told us that we lose water not only through urine, but through our lungs, faeces, sweat and evaporation through our skin. We have continual evaporation from our skin and lungs which accounts for approximately ½ of our daily fluid loss! Who would have thought? If you are already feeling thirsty, you may already be slightly dehydrated! Here our 10 signs that you may be dehydrated: headaches, poor concentration, fatigue, dry mouth, eyes and skin, itchy skin, loss of appetite, heat intolerance, dark and smelly urine, diminished urine output and dizziness!

Water does wonders for your body, and your brain. Water is well known to cleanse your body of harmful chemicals through your intestines and throughout your urine tract. Without proper water intake, our bodies break down very quickly, in a matter of days. Without food, however, some people can live for a week or two. That just shows how important water is to our bodies.

Here are 3 quick tips for taking in more water.
1. Add your own flavour
We know water can be pretty boring. But instead of using the flavoring agents you see in stores, opt for something more natural—like lemon or orange slices, mint, cucumber, berries. To enhance the taste even more, let it sit in the fridge for a few hours.
2. Water –Rich Foods
You can hydrate with water-rich foods like cucumbers, melons, celery or even soup with a light broth. Why make it hard for yourself?

3. Always have water available.
A great way of making sure you drink more water is to make sure it is easily accessible. Keep a bottle on you at all times, fill up a bottle before you leave in the morning. Remember glass bottles are the best to avoid harmful BPA – an industrial chemical found in some commonly used plastics. Put in your handbag, keep your bottle visible on your deck, Are you always on the run? Keep one in your car! Have your water bottle in plain sight so you’re constantly reminded.

One final point that many people don’t know is that warm water hydrates more quickly than cold. So, whatever your flavour preference, or the chosen temperature in your glass give water a shot, your body and your skin will be thankful!
